A custom CZ Advantage address is one that does not end in communityzero.com. CZ Advantage functions that currently make use of the E-mail Domain field located in Site Administration are discussions and mailing lists.
To use a custom address for e-mail, please follow the steps outlined below:
STEP 1: Add an MX Record
Contact your DNS service provider and request that an additional DNS record be configured. Ask that an MX record be set for the custom address currently in use by the CZ Advantage site (i.e. communities.widgets.com).
Ask to have the MX record set to:
clientmail.communityzero.com
STEP 2: Verify MX Record Setup
Once your service provider has confirmed that the MX record has been configured, it is highly recommended that you test the setting prior to updating your CZ Advantage configuration.
Follow these steps to verify an MX record:
- Open a command prompt
(Windows users: see the Accessories section of your Programs list)
- Enter the following commands (press ENTER after each command):
nslookup
set type=mx
communities.widgets.com
(replace this address with your actual Advantage site address)
STEP 3: Update Advantage Configuration
Now that the MX record is set up and tested, you must update the Advantage site configuration to be aware of the new address. In CZ Advantage, this is called an "E-mail Domain".
Login to your CZ Advantage Site Administration area. Select the Configuration tab, and choose the Options sub-section. Next, click E-mail to view all e-mail related site options. Scroll down the page until you find the e-mail domain field.
Modify the E-mail Domain field to be the custom address setup in step 1 (i.e. communities.widgets.com).
NOTE: After this change has been applied, any e-mail that is sent from CZ Advantage will make use of the custom address. Your Advantage site will no longer accept mail from the previous address. It is recommended that you alert your users of this change as it may affect messages sent from CZ Advantage prior to the configuration change (i.e. the reply option in those e-mails will be using the disabled e-mail domain).
