Details on Discussion Tool Enhancements
Solution
This article describes the enhancements to be made to the Discussion tool interface, which were deployed in early August 2007. These minor enhancements improve usability by consolidating the layout of tool controls and content. No action is required in order to take advantage of these enhancements.
Summary of Discussion Tool Changes:
At-a-glance visibility of the number of views, number of messages, date and author of last posting in each discussion topic
Additional information and sorting options available in discussion folders
"Breadcrumb" navigation control replaces the existing drop-down navigation menu, allowing users to quickly see where they are and where they navigated from
Ability to quote an existing message and automatic linking to the parent post when responding to a discussion message
More member profile information included with their posts, such as how many posts the member has contributed and when the member registered on your CommunityZero site
Clearer sorting options for topic display
A simplified user interface through the elimination of some redundant features (such as "Group Replies" and the pop-up window for threaded views)
Grouping related options (reply to this message, reply to a topic, etc.) for easier access
Note that these changes will not impact access to content contained in any existing discussion topics on your CommunityZero site.
